This post is kinda random and will hardly be as seasonal as some others out there but might as well make one while it still lasts – not sure when a Shogatsu/New Years Holiday ends for most people but mine ended last Wednesday (‘ω`;) Looking back, a lot has happened in the past year with me graduating from college, becoming a 社会人 [Shakaijin=member of the society] and switching jobs. Not everything went as planned due to the external forces, but all things considered I guess I should be grateful that I’m still able to continue this hobby as I’ve been for the past 2 years. Dollfie Dream is an expensive hobby as its body parts, clothing, accessories and related events can cost a bundle and even lead to other addicting hobbies like camera or traveling – both which thankfully I’m not much into…yet. The comments, favorites, retweets and reblogs were also what helped me continue this hobby so many thanks to everyone for their support. Just realized that the stats hit 100,000 (views/visitors?) over the weekend. And of course, my girls were also equally important and have to thank them for posing/being stuffed in a carriage bag hours on end. IMO, Sora was the MVP last year so I’ll be posting several pics of her in the military uniform and a few in the black & white miko outfit just for the occasion. There’s also a few photos taken at Volk’s new photobooth with comrade Jeremy at the end of the post along with other random pics.
Must’ve taken countless photos of her in this outfit this year but it never gets old. I try to work with different angles, come up with new sets of pose and learn from how other people would shoot her like in this one. Am still using Lumix GF1 with the 20mm lens I bought over 2 years ago but Lightroom and the editing techniques I picked up on the job helped quite a lot I think.
I’ve always admired how the DD Akiyama Mio face mold can display many different expression with a slight change in angle. Sad that it’s a type of face we’re seeing less and less from Volks.
Haven’t gotten around to showing her 1/3 scale antique telescope so will throw in pics of that as well. It seemed like a good idea to buy one at the time since she was dressed in a Japanese Navy uniform but you can only do so little with telescopes…
Sora: I’m bored~.
Right…let’s just get you in your Miko outfit while you’re still in the mood.
Sora: Hey master, this smells funny.
Well, it has been in storage for 1-2 years you know. Don’t worry, it’ll only be for a few seconds ;)
Some of you may not remember this outfit but this was the 1st clothing I bought from a dealer at Yahoo Japan Auction. Was a little crazy back then and competed with another bidder until the price reached XXXXX yen. Good memories…(‘ω`) Sora’s attitude hasn’t changed much tho. Should’ve gone to a 初詣 [Hatsumode] to bring back some shrine ornament stuff but this will have to do for now. Akemashite-omedetou!
Below are a couple of pics taken at the new photobooth at Volks Akihabara last Saturday. Ento-san was there too but not with his daughters. The booth was pretty well made with the stairs and chandelier but couldn’t utilize the setting to it’s fullest. Probably due to doing too much close-up pics at home and no outdoor photoshoot.
Jeremy’s cute Saber Alter dressed in casual clothing and short brown wig. I keep telling myself to buy some casual clothing for the girls but always end up buying weapons or some weird military items…
So I decided to lighten things up a little by changing Xera’s wig for the first time. The old white one was damaged pretty badly and hairs kept coming off every time I combed them. Platinum blonde because she reminded me of a character I used to adore. With an optional red eye, she could also pass for Kobato whom I’m also quite fond of :3 Bought her daki recently btw.
And lastly a pic taken with an iPhone shortly after trimming down/styling the wig. Naked because I didn’t want to bother cleaning up hairs from her clothing. No, really.
…anyways, getting back to the topic, Happy New Years everyone :3
