Daughters were getting tired of having their pictures taken on my desk and so was I. Since outdoor wasn’t an option as Japan was in midst of rain season with serious mosquito infestation, an indoor photoshoot at a photo studio was exactly what me and my girls needed. When I heard that our small doll group was planning one to celebrate the coming of one of the member’s 1st daughter (Saber Alter) and saw the setup on the hotel’s homepage, there was simply no way I could miss this one out.
The Geihinkan Hotel has a couple of rental studios in their rooms and their price for a one night rent (20:00-10:00) fetches around 3-40000 yen. The studio/room we rented was a western style type that had two floors, 3-4 rooms, stair-case, chandeliers and also free lighting equipment/reflectors which I will touch up on later in the post. Wasn’t as expensive as we had 8 participants with over 20 dolls. Those participating were the usual Baradanji-san, Monokok-san, Arab-san, Yumemi-san, Last Nostalgic-san and some new faces such as Panda-damepo-san and Ento-san from twitter. This is probably my girl’s 2nd time at a photostudio but unlike last time it felt more “fun” orientated. Could be because of the rather eccentric members this time and also the fact that we were taking photos in the middle of the night XD Both were interesting to attend to nevertheless and there are always new things to learn :3 Not much Aura pics this time because she had her turn in the studio photoshoot last year and also because I forgot a couple of important accesories XP

The best seat is given to Last Nostalgic-san’s first daughter Saber Alter. Heard he waited for like 9-10 months to get her and I gotta say she was well worth the wait :3 Am excited and interested to see how he develops her character. As some of you may remember, I wasn’t that good with my Saber Alter and ended up sending her for adoption^^;

Before moving on to the individual doll photos, here’s a quick look on how studio/room we rented.

Very nice setup but it’s too bad though that I wasn’t able to utilize these rooms to its fullest. Need to work on my improvising skills and camera way more :/ Anyways, now onto the dolls~
The first batter up is Yumemi-san’s new dual-wielding girl Shurly (MDD Ethel Dreda). Was amazed by how he coordinated Ethel to create his own character and am fond of how he kept the color variations simple (purple, gree, and monochrome). Also many thanks for Yumemi-san for organizing this photoshoot :3

Baradanji-san’s Archangel Rukanis (aka. White Rose) was serene and very fitting to the scenery.

Baradanji-san’s Vampire Tremere (a.k.a Black Rose). Adore the evil look on her which is very contrast to her white counterpart. She’s usually cool looking in this outfit but when her owner gets carried away…..

Monokok-san’s Senri Akane (DD Reimu) looking beautiful as ever. I did take more of his daughter’s photos but most ended up blurry and out of focus orz…

This stylish pirate-like Marisa belongs to Ento-san whose passion for Marisa goes way beyond that of any Touhou fan XD I can tell a lot of work went into her customization. The details are most exquisite.

This gorgeous custom kimono girl called “Haruka” belongs to Panda-damepo-san. She’s the eldest of his 3 daughters and as the little ghost plushie suggests, she controls spiritual powers to fend off enemies. The more I look at her the more I start to want a kimono for my girls…;3

This girl also belongs to Panda-san and is called “Natsuki” and she has quite a lot of variations.

This is Natsuki cosplaying as “An Futaba” from Idol M@ster.
A very lazy character indeed, but don’t let her appearance fool you.
She also wields a a variety of weapons like this katana here and started battling Sora upstairs….
Battle continued as Sora was met my more challengers wielding Japanese swords.
Arab-san’s second daughter DD Sakuya was simply beautiful and had that cool-beauty, oneesama look that I’ve always been fond of. Sora was also impressed by her skills and appearance and agreed to do some collaboration photos later on :3

In the bathroom is Arab-san’s Sakuya who was showing off her seductive body in a bikini outfit. I think it’s from the same manufacturer as Aura’s?
Baradanji-san’s Tremere was also here in her alluring black under garment dress. Unfortunately, Sora didn’t have her black bikini at the time and couldn’t do any sexy shots like this Sakuya or Tremere.

You’re probably all aware of this by now but I think I have a thing about booty shots. It’s almost always in my posts and I take like 30-something shots so that I get the correct angle and composition. Serious business indeed ;3

Well, I think this pretty much wraps up this studio photoshoot. Had loads of fun and would be nice to be able to go to places like this again with even more people

Wow, another studio session, this time at a beautiful hotel. Lots of cool looking girls this time, I specially like Ento-San’s Marisa, that outfit is awesome, at first glance, I thought she was Sora, then I noticed Sora standing beside her XD Maybe because of her color theme… looked like something that Sora would wear (^^); I really enjoyed the battle scene shots, the action captured was very well done. Thanks for sharing another wonderful post (^_^)b
Yeah, I felt the same thing when I placed Sora next to her =) She looks just as contrast to Sora as Aura does with her black overwear, silver accessories and eye-patch. Definitely something I’d want on my girls ;3
Thanks! Took like forever to get them to pose that way given how heavy Sora’s sword was and also how the lighting was dim/harsh. Fun time tho^^;

Nice set of photos, love how most DD’s have intricate, elaborate costumes fitting the hotel interior design style. Looks like a fun night out with fellow DD photographer friends shooting away in such a setting.
Although it can feel limiting due to the time to set up, maybe a tripod can help to get more shots in focus? My own experiences shooting free hand aren’t that terrific either, lots of blurry shots too.

There were actually like 2 options for the studio rooms, one Japanese-ish (和) and the other western (西洋) and since most of our girls had this western fantasy feel to it, we went with the latter :3 Fun night indeed but we were all surprised when we heard that this was actually a love hotel XD Cosplayers use this place too tho…
Tripods might’ve helped but I’ve never been fond of how it limits the angle I can get with a free hand and the place was a tad bit too crowded to use them anyways ^^;
Wow…what a studio shoot. With so many shooting spots and daughters plus sharing makes it more affordable and more fun with everyone else. Glad to see Sora enjoying some battle and shoots around also. All other daughters are so nice looking as well….how I wish we have these kind of locations and meetup in Singapore as well.
For me I also took many shoots to get to the right moment, especially for my 1/6 Mia here eyes are always look wondering, so getting her to look at the angle I wish does take time. Indoor shooting are really challenging as you may not have enough light or flash are too harsh. Unlike outdoor sometimes a reflector could solve the problem.
We are going to have a small group shoot next week at Singapore Garden Festival which will be our first DD outdoor shoot with Saber (have not yet come up a name for her…). Really hope to get some good shoots like yours ^_^
Twas quite the experience indeed. The hotel looked plain from the outside so when we entered the room, our eyeballs kinda popped from their sockets^^; Not to mention the very beautiful daughters. that gathered here. These rooms were originally made for people like cosplayers to do photoshoot so there should be some in your neck of the woods too ;3
Yeah, painted eyes are a pain to work with sometimes. I’ve had the same kinda experience with my Azone Sora. Angles were very limited too^^; Indoor photoshoots are hard to work with too give the nature of the different light source but I was able to pick up a few techniques from my fellow DDer =)
Best of luck with your first photoshoot with 1/3 dolls and will be looking forward to seeing the results! =D
I think you’ll do much better than my first photoshoot as you’ve had lots pratice with 1/6 sized dolls^^;

GF1でカバー出来なかった腕の未熟さは加工とかカメラ内蔵のフィルタ(?)で誤魔化していますのよ。元の写真はとてもお見せできません( ；´Д｀)

途中カメラのほうを使わせていただきましたが、自分のカメラとの性能差に愕然としましたよ。
お陰で次の物欲リストの中にカメラが入ってしまいましたｗ

カメラに関しては全然詳しくないんですが、軽くて小回りの効くミラーレス一眼はオススメですよ(´ω` )ポーズやアングルを研究し始めるドールライフ初期にはピッタリ
